UV Cuvettes – Latex and Plastic Free

UV Cuvettes – Latex and Plastic Free

Longevity Resources Inc. provides the high quality sterilized Quartz Glass UV Cuvettes that you require, at extremely competitive prices. Review these details, unmatched in the industry:

    1. Our UV Cuvettes are made of 214 Quartz Glass to ensure proper transmission of the UV Light
    2. Manufactured and sterilized in a professional factory in Germany, the same factory that manufactures cuvettes for the German hospitals and government (caution: some companies have their cuvettes built and sterilized in China, or Mexico…would you trust Chinese cuvettes?)
    3. Available in several lengths to fit all UV Systems on the market today (see UV Cuvette Models)
    4. The lowest priced cuvettes in North America and always in stock. Join our frequent buyer’s program and save even more!
    5. No Plastic Turbolator! The basic laws of chemistry and physics have proven that plastic is destroyed by UV light, therefore plastic turbolators can emit toxic by-products to your sample when exposed to UV light. Also, remember, your samples are fragile, so flat impact surfaces, jagged edges, and shear forces due to uncontrolled excessive turbulence are also likely physically damaging your sample (See Turbolators).
    6. All plastic is kept out of the UV Irradiation field: Some cuvettes are simply too short, and the joint between the plastic line and the Glass Cuvette is bombarded with UV Light, once again providing the opportunity for introducing oxidized plastics into your sample (just like the turbolator). Longevity cuvettes are designed longer to keep any and all plastic away from the UV source, maintaining the purity of your sample.

At Longevity Resources Inc. we focus on ensuring in every aspect of our business that we provide the highest quality products on the market. We also respect and fully recognize the fact that you are inundated every day with companies claiming to be “the best”. We simply offer you high quality products at excellent prices and customer support that rivals any company’s support, in any industry.

We offer several lengths of UV Cuvettes to ensure they can be used in virtually all UV Systems. Extremely High Quality and yet far less expensive that all others on the market:

    8 Inch Quartz Glass Cuvette

    • Suitable for Longevity’s Aqua Pro series of UV Systems, plus the German Eumatron, Aquatron, and also the USA home-made machines: GHL 1500, GHL 2000 and the Chimp.

    What is a “Turbolator”?

A Turbolator is an unnecessary component of some UV cuvettes, introduce by manufacturers from time to time over the past 20 years as a sales gimmick. UV Photoluminescence has been in use for over 80 years, primarily without turbolators. Over the past 30 years three attempts have been made by manufacturers to distract customers from the actual method of action of the UV Light in Photoluminesence, to create an issue over making the sample spin with “Turbolators” and to create a fictitious competitive edge. These plastic devices inside the cuvette are not necessary, and in fact are actually considered to be damaging. We provide the rationale here as to why.

    Why is the Turbolator Unnecessary?

The “turbolator” was originally placed in cuvettes under the misunderstanding by the manufacturer that it was necessary to make the sample to “spin” as it passes by the UV ultraviolet lamps. UV Photoluminescence is effective because UV light already passes naturally from cell to cell, known and proven through basic physics. So, not only is the turbolator completely unnecessary to the success of the process, it also jeopardizes the safety and efficacy of the process by damaging the sample, and also introducing toxic by-products (see below).

What is inherently wrong with a Turbolator?

    1. Toxic ByProducts:

    • Controversy surrounds the use of the plastic “turbolator” found in some cuvettes, mainly because it is a well-known fact that plastic breaks down when exposed to UVC light. Unfortunately the plastic turbolator will break down and impart contaminants to into the sample when exposed to UVC light. Longevity’s UV cuvettes have no plastic turbolator which enables us to ensure the purity and ‘toxic free’ nature of your sample.

    2. “Turbulation Flaws”:

    • Too many flat surfaces: If your sample is fragile cells slamming into the flat surfaces are unnecessarily damaged due to trauma from the impact. Those flat surfaces may look small to us, but to a microscopic cell the flat surface on the turbolator is equivalent to a water balloon slamming into an office building.
    • Too much “uncontrolled turbulence”: The idea of the Turbolator was to push inner fluids and cells to the outer surface of the cuvette wall. Even if this was necessary (which it is not) a gentle push is all that is required. However, the current turbolator’s design will cause microscopic cells to be thrown and spun in such a way as to add uncontrolled shear forces that will ultimately rip apart fragile cells. It is similar to placing a fragile water balloon in a rushing river full of rapids, waterfalls, and rocks. The turbulation expert that we interviewed stated: “It is quite clear that the engineer who designed the turbulator has no knowledge or training in the biosciences, because the uncontrolled turbulence created by the turbulator will damage or destroy any biological cells from excessive shear forces”.

Results have confirmed that UV ultraviolet cuvettes with no turbolator function just as well if not better than those with a turbolator with the additional benefit that the sample remains intact (undamaged) and no toxic byproducts are added.
